Position Title: Assistant Controller

Position
Summary: The Assistant Controller assists the Bank's Controller, serves as backup for the Controller, and performs various accounting and finance functions and may supervise some accounting staff.
Major
Responsibilities:
Serves as backup for the Controller position and various other positions in the Bank's accounting and finance function.
Prepares, assists in the preparation of, or oversees the preparation of various regulatory and internal financial reports, including monthly board reports, quarterly FDIC and SEC reports and annual report to shareholders.
Supervises and / or lends expertise to accounting staff.
Responsible for accounting related to fixed assets, bank owned life insurance (BOLi), Supplemental Retirement Plans (SRPs), Joint Beneficiary Agreements (JBAs), Deferred Compensation Plans.
Assists in income tax accounting matters.
Administers the Bank's internal controls process (including SOX 404).
Other
Responsibilities:
Maintains a current understanding of Board approved policies and procedures, including regulatory compliance issues.
Serves as a resource on issues related to internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles.
Education, Experience, And Other Skills Required:
Undergraduate degree in accounting required, graduate degree or CPA preferred.
Five to seven years in accounting with a financial institution, or within a public account firm with some financial institution engagement experience preferred.
Thorough understanding of financial and management accounting and internal control principles.
Experience in internal, SEC and FDIC regulatory reporting requirements preferred.
Advance spreadsheet skills, understanding of Excel macros preferred.
